About

Streamline your online collaborations

Introduction

To enhance research productivity, it's important to have access to a broad range of online resources that are available nationwide. The Korean Access Federation (KAFE) is a national identity federation that facilitates the sharing of such resources and fosters collaborative research endeavors. Similar to how travelers can visit other countries using their passports issued by their home countries, researchers affiliated with KAFE institutions can use their organizational credentials (i.e., username and password) to gain access to various online resources offered by other institutions.

By providing a secure solution for accessing online resources in the research and education fields, KAFE enables research institutions to:

  • share scholarly information from individual institutions
  • facilitate the sharing of online resources between institutions
  • securely access to online resources outside of each institutions
  • freely utilize the collaborations tools offered by KREONET/KISTI

KAFE ensures the secure exchange of user information using an international standard (SAML 2.0) and adheres to the Personal Information Protection Act in Korea. The federation is recognized as an ID Federation initiative in Korea by REFEDS, the Research and Education Federations group.

KAFE is a member of the eduGAIN inter-federation service, which enables secure access to online resources across various research and education communities.
